Last week the Commerce Department release preliminary Gross Domestic Product data that showed that the US economy grew at 3.2% annual rate in the fourth quarter.  Final sales to private domestic purchasers were up at an estimated 4.3% annual rate, providing further evidence that the “handoff” from fiscal support to growth in private demand is beginning to make progress.
