The internet is still a very good source of reference materials if you know where to look. There are many websites that offer tutorials in very specific topics of Java which cater for the beginners as well as for the more advanced Java programmers. The Sun Developer Network offers a mountain of useful information on APIs, the latest products, downloads and Java technologies. There are many Java forums, newsgroups or online community groups where individuals come together to discuss about specific areas of Java. Forums are fast becoming a great tool for exchanging ideas and getting advice on a specific topic for the online community as more and more people gain access to the internet. Once your subscription to a forum is verified and activated, you can participate in the different threads or simply view current and past threads to obtain insights into the world of Java and beyond. Look out for those forums which have a high number of active users and posts that are current and recent. A well-structured forum should have clearly defined topic areas which allow you to quickly track down the appropriate threads and get the help you need. Also a good forum should have strict moderators or administrators who will ensure the smooth running of the forum and the removal of disruptive users and spams.
